THE BEST TIME
TO TAKE
YOUR NYC
ENGAGEMENT
PHOTOS

EARLY MORNING (as close to sunrise as possible):

I legit recommend getting up early to EVERY COUPLE. Like seriously it makes such as huge difference on the amount of crowds. Most of the tourists are not going to get up at 7am to go explore NYC so you’ll probably only encounter NYC natives commuting on their way to work (and they walk super fast so they never get in the back of your photo for too long)

WEEKDAYS

YEP. another way to avoid tons of weekend tourists. Taking your engagement photos in NYC on a weekday is a great option to get the best photos- (especially if you choose to do them early morning ON a weekday)

More NYC Engagement Session Advice:
With NYC always comes crowds- isn’t that a part of what makes it New York? But it’s still important to try to avoid them as much as possible to help keep them out of your photos- especially at iconic spots in the city

WHAT TO WEAR
FOR YOUR NYC
ENGAGEMENT SESSION

advice from a nyc engagement photographer

  • Comfortable shoes- with NYC always comes walking- I suggest either bringing comfortable shoes to throw on while we walk or to wear something that fits your style and is both cute and comfortable

  • Simple solid colors, preferably neutral tones, so it doesn’t take away from your faces. I suggest wearing more muted shirt such as black, white, beige, maroon, dark blue, grey. I would avoid crazy plaid or clashing patterns with each other's outfits.

  • Dressing up always makes engagement photos come up that much better: for men I always suggest button downs, quarter zips, blazers, dress pants, and women- dresses, skirts, florals, flowy dresses, jumpsuits all are great options- but in the end wear whatever you feel most comfortable in!

  • Avoid logos and writing on clothing, these can be super distracting and can take away from your faces in the photos.

  • Wear an outfit you’re comfortable in, something you feel confident in that flatters your shape- in the end their your pictures!

  • Accessories are great! Women can really have fun with this one, scarfs, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and hats! Men can wear watches, rings, or whatever accessories they like. It really depends on how dressy you want the shoot to be.
