Moab Wedding | Dead Horse Point State Park Elopement
Moab Wedding | Dead Horse Point State Park Elopement
Looking for one of the best ways to get married in Moab? Ditch the traditional venue and get married at Dead Horse Point State Park! This Dead Horse Point State Park wedding with Lindsay and Chris was filled with a lot of exploring, laughs, and adventures.
Curious how to have a wedding like this? It’s not as hard as you think! Typically, weddings like these are called elopements. If you’ve never heard that term before, learn all about elopements here. Basically, an elopement is a unique wedding experience customized to a couple’s interests and passions. Elopements are about creating a wedding day doing exactly what a couple wants, without all the extra ‘stuff’ involved in a traditional wedding. Couples are choosing to elope all over the world, only surrounded by the people and things that make them the happiest. Typically elopements are 30 people or less, but it’s still possible to have bigger weddings at a place like Dead Horse Point State Park
Planning a Moab wedding or elopement at a National/State park is a little different than a traditional wedding.
Here are a few things to think about if you want a wedding like this:
You need to obtain a permit through the state or national park service, the best way to do this is look up the park online and see their requirements
Since your ceremony will be outdoors, there is no real ‘reception’ location. This is something to think about when planning your Moab wedding. Some couples have their reception at a large Airbnb or a restaurant, it’s completely up to you.
Be ready to get your dress dirty!! Moab weddings or elopements done in nature are all about adventuring and exploring the park with your significant other!
Think about what else you want to do during your day, do you want to go for a hike? or road trip around the park? Your wedding day is so much more than just a 45 minute ceremony, so make the most out of it!
One of my favorite parts about this Moab wedding is you can TRULY see the love between these two. All day they kept looking at each other and saying ‘I love you’ about 100 times. And every time you could tell they meant it from the bottom of their hearts.
These two were down for all the adventures, after Lindsay and Chris hiked around all day, we sat by the edge of the canyon and watched the sun set behind the clouds. I’m not sure if you can tell in these photos, but Lindsay actually has white ‘ked’ shoes on! It was the cutest yet most comfortable way for her to hike around Dead Horse Point State Park. If you’re the type of person to wear hiking boots under your wedding dress- eloping might be for you!
